What This Bill Does
Limits who can request a public hearing about new industrial facilities with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). Only representatives from schools, places of worship, licensed day-care centers, hospitals, medical facilities, or residents within 880 yards of a proposed plant can request a hearing. The change narrows the previous eligibility criteria and requires TCEQ to establish specific rules defining who qualifies as a representative of these institutions.
