What This Bill Does

Lowers the age threshold for jury service exemption from 75 to 65 years old, allowing individuals 65 and older to automatically qualify for an exemption from jury duty. The change affects older Texas residents, giving them the option to opt out of jury service based on their age. The bill provides more flexibility for seniors who may find jury service physically or mentally challenging, while maintaining other existing exemption categories like primary caretakers, active military personnel, and students.
