What This Bill Does
Clarifies who can have an insurable interest in the life of an individual with disabilities receiving care at state-supported facilities. Care providers at state supported living centers, assisted living facilities, intermediate care facilities, and group homes cannot obtain life insurance policies on their care recipients, unless they are a relative within the third degree of relation. The law will apply to insurance policies delivered or renewed on or after January 1, 2026, aiming to prevent potential exploitation of vulnerable individuals.
