What This Bill Does

Modifies who can request an official opinion from the Texas Attorney General by expanding and reorganizing the list of authorized requestors, which now includes heads of state departments, penal institutions, state boards, educational institution regents, legislators, county auditors, and governing board chairs. These changes update and clarify the existing legal provisions about requesting formal legal guidance from the state's top legal office, with the new rules taking effect on September 1, 2025. The amendment provides more flexibility and clarity for government officials seeking official legal interpretations from the Attorney General.
