What This Bill Does

Establishes comprehensive regulations for group home facilities in Texas, requiring owners to obtain a license from the Health and Human Services Commission and meet specific operational standards. Group home facilities must provide lodging for three or more unrelated residents and offer services like meal preparation, transportation, and medication assistance, while being subject to regular inspections and background checks for employees. The law aims to ensure resident safety by mandating criminal background screenings, setting minimum care standards, and creating a process for licensing, inspection, and potential suspension of facilities that do not comply with state requirements.
