What This Bill Does

This Texas bill updates mandatory training requirements for school district peace officers and school resource officers. The curriculum now requires specific training in areas like child psychology, de-escalation techniques, mental health crisis intervention, and trauma-informed strategies for handling student behavior. The goal is to improve interactions between school officers and students by emphasizing understanding, conflict resolution, and minimizing use of force, particularly for students with disabilities or special needs.
