What This Bill Does

This Texas bill allows certain non-exempt, non-annualized school district employees to use up to two personal leave days per year for school holidays when they would otherwise not receive compensation. Specifically, the bill applies to hourly school employees who do not have guaranteed annual salaries and are subject to overtime regulations, enabling them to use existing personal leave to receive pay during unpaid school holidays. The law would take effect for the 2025-2026 school year, providing these employees with additional financial flexibility during unpaid holiday periods.
