What This Bill Does

Allows property owners and local authorities to conduct controlled outdoor burns of vegetation during a declared state of disaster or emergency without needing prior approval from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality's regional offices. The legislation provides flexibility for burn activities during emergency situations, such as wildfire recovery or disaster response, where vegetation clearance might be urgent. The bill takes effect on September 1, 2025, and aims to streamline emergency burn protocols by removing bureaucratic notification requirements during declared disaster periods.
