What This Bill Does
Allows certain municipalities with populations between 850,000 and 950,000 to extend project financing zones originally designated in 2019 by two additional years, specifically due to COVID-19's impact on hotel-associated revenues. The extension applies to project financing zones that were in existence on March 15, 2020, effectively giving municipalities more time to use tax revenue for convention center facilities, multipurpose arenas, venues, and related infrastructure. The bill takes effect on September 1, 2025, providing municipalities additional flexibility in managing their tax-based development projects.
