What This Bill Does

Allows county commissioners courts in counties with 350,000 or more residents to establish uniform rules about work hours for department heads and employees whose compensation is set by the court. The legislation applies to county government employees, excluding sheriff's and constable's office staff in certain civil service system counties. The bill would give county leadership more flexibility in setting consistent work standards and scheduling across county departments.
