What This Bill Does
Prevents residential landlords from increasing rent after an applicant has been approved for a rental application. If a landlord approves an applicant's rental application with a specific monthly rent amount, they must offer the lease at that original rent price. Landlords who violate this rule could be liable to pay the applicant $100, three times the application fee or deposit, potentially creating a financial deterrent against unexpected rent increases during the application process.
