What This Bill Does

Allows individuals aged 18-20 to legally carry a handgun in Texas if they complete a handgun proficiency course and a hunter education course. The legislation modifies existing penal code restrictions, effectively expanding gun carrying rights for younger adults by providing a pathway to legal handgun possession through specific training requirements. The law will take effect on September 1, 2025, and applies only to offenses committed on or after that date.
