What This Bill Does
This Texas bill allows individuals with handgun licenses to voluntarily add a handgun license designation to their driver's license or commercial driver's license. The designation will include the person's handgun license number and the period of license effectiveness, which must be elected when applying for or renewing a license. When interacting with law enforcement, license holders can now display their driver's license with the handgun license designation instead of carrying separate documents, simplifying identification and compliance processes.
