What This Bill Does

Requires licensed firearms dealers in Texas to notify the Department of Public Safety when they deny selling a firearm to someone who fails a background check through the National Instant Criminal Background Check System. If the Department of Public Safety receives such a notification, they must investigate the incident and refer the case to local authorities if evidence suggests a potential violation of firearm possession laws. The bill aims to enhance enforcement of firearm regulations by creating a formal reporting and investigation process for attempted illegal firearm acquisitions.
