What This Bill Does

Would prevent public employees in Texas from collectively bargaining with state or local government officials, effectively prohibiting public sector labor unions from negotiating wages, hours, and working conditions on behalf of employees. The legislation maintains that public employees cannot strike or engage in organized work stoppages, but still preserves their individual right to present grievances about employment conditions through a non-striking representative. If passed, the bill would impact government workers across Texas, including teachers, firefighters, police officers, and other public sector employees, by limiting their ability to negotiate as a unified group.
