What This Bill Does

Requires all political subdivisions in Texas (including counties, municipalities, school districts, and special districts) to register and use the federal E-verify program to verify employment eligibility for all new employees. Any employee responsible for verifying new hires who fails to comply with E-verify requirements can be immediately terminated from their job. The law will go into effect on September 1, 2025, giving political subdivisions time to implement the new employment verification process.
