Bill Text
relating to bidding or procurement requirements for improvement projects in public improvement districts. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: SECTION 1. Section 372.003, Local Government Code, is amended by adding Subsection (b-2) to read as follows: (b-2) A public improvement project is not subject to the bidding or procurement requirements of Chapter 252 or Chapter 262 if at least one-third of the cost of the improvement is or will be paid or secured by a special assessment levied on property located inside the public improvement district. SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
