relating to the provision of services by the Texas Department of
Criminal Justice to offenders with intellectual or developmental
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1.  The heading to Section 501.069, Government Code,
Sec. 501.069.  OFFENDERS WITH INTELLECTUAL OR DEVELOPMENTAL
DISABILITIES [DEVELOPMENTALLY DISABLED OFFENDER] PROGRAM.
SECTION 2.  Section 501.069, Government Code, is amended by
adding Subsections (c-1), (c-2), and (e) and amending Subsection
(c-1)  The department shall develop and identify community
resources to assist an offender described by Subsection (b) in
successfully reentering and reintegrating into the community.
(c-2)  The department shall develop and implement a reentry
and reintegration plan that is person-centered and based on the
individual needs of an offender described by Subsection (b).  The
plan may include the coordination of treatment, identification of
housing assistance, and delivery of other transitional services.
(d)  The department may accept gifts, awards, or grants for
the purpose of providing the services described by this section
(e)  Funds appropriated to the department may not be expended
to provide residential housing assistance to an offender described
by Subsection (b) who is serving a sentence for an offense listed in
SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
