relating to the process for filling a vacancy on the board of certain property owners' associations. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: SECTION 1. Section 209.00593(a), Property Code, is amended (a) Notwithstanding any provision in a dedicatory instrument, any board member whose term has expired must be elected by owners who are members of the property owners' association. If [A board member may be appointed by the board to fill] a vacancy occurs on the board, the board shall order a special election to fill the vacancy. A board member elected [appointed] to fill a vacant position shall serve until the next regular election of members to the board [for the remainder of the unexpired term of the SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
