relating to funding mechanisms to support the siting, development, construction, and deployment of advanced nuclear and innovative energy technologies in this state. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: SECTION 1. Subtitle F, Title 4, Government Code, is amended by adding Chapter 483 to read as follows: CHAPTER 483. Texas Advanced Nuclear and Innovative Energy SUBCHAPTER A. GENERAL PROVISIONS Sec. 483.001. DEFININTIONS. In this chapter: (1) "Advanced nuclear reactor" means a range of proven and innovative nuclear reactor technologies. (2) "Advanced nuclear reactor fuel" means fuel for use in an advanced nuclear reactor or a research and test reactor. (3) "Commission" means the Public Utility Commission (4) "Office" means the Texas Advanced Nuclear and Innovative Energy Technologies Office. SUBCHAPTER B. TEXAS ADVANCED NUCLEAR AND INNOVATIVE ENERGY Sec. 483.101. TIER 2 PROJECT CONSTRUCTION PROGRAM. (a) Using money in the fund established in section 483.201, the office may reimburse qualifying expenses associated with the construction of an advanced nuclear reactor project in this state SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
