relating to the purposes for which the Texas Water Development Board may use money in the economically distressed areas account. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: SECTION 1. Section 17.922(a), Water Code, is amended to (a) The board shall use the economically distressed areas account to provide financial assistance to political subdivisions for the construction, acquisition, or improvement of water supply and sewer services, including providing funds from the account for: (1) the state's participation in federal programs that provide assistance solely for projects intended to serve economically distressed areas; or (2) costs associated with platting or replatting an area in preparation for connecting the area to a public water supply or sanitary sewer system if the area to be platted or replatted was developed before the model rules were adopted by the board under SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
