relating to extensions of a deadline to comply with a municipal order for a substandard building in certain municipalities. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: SECTION 1. Section 214.001, Local Government Code, is amended by adding Subsection (k-1) to read as follows: (k-1) A municipality with a population of two million or more may only provide two 90-day extensions to allow the owner, lienholder, or mortgagee more than 30 days to repair, remove, or demolish the building or fully perform all work required to comply with the order. To be eligible for an extension, the owner, (1) for the initial extension, request the extension (2) for the second extension, request the extension by SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
