relating to newborn screening tests for sex chromosome structure.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1.  Subchapter A, Chapter 33, Health and Safety
Code, is amended by adding Section 33.0022 to read as follows:
Sec. 33.0022.  SEX CHROMOSOME STRUCTURE TEST.
Notwithstanding any other provision of this chapter, the department
shall include a sex chromosome structure test in the detection and
treatment program established under this chapter, in the screening
for heritable diseases conducted under Subchapter B, and in the
newborn screening services provided under Subchapter C.
SECTION 2.  As soon as practicable after the effective date
of this Act, the Department of State Health Services shall
implement Section 33.0022, Health and Safety Code, as added by this
SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
