relating to the confidentiality of certain information held by the BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 552, Government Code, is amended by adding Section 552.1178 to read as follows: Sec. 552.1178. CONFIDENTIALITY OF CERTAIN INFORMATION MAINTAINED BY TEXAS EDUCATION AGENCY. (a) In this section, "educator" has the meaning assigned by Section 5.001, Education (b) Information maintained by the Texas Education Agency that relates to the home address, home telephone number, personal cell phone number, personal e-mail address, driver's license number, emergency contact information, date of birth, or social security number of an educator, or that reveals whether an educator has family members, is confidential and excepted from the requirements of Section 552.021. SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
