relating to public water systems in rural counties. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: SECTION 1. Chapter 341, Health & Safety Code, is amended by adding Section 341.051 to read as follows: Sec. 341.051. PUBLIC WATER SYSTEMS IN RURAL COUNTIES. (a) In this section, "rural county" means a county with a population (b) Establishments catering to the public in rural counties may meet the requirements of the federal Safe Drinking Water Act by alternative means such as chlorination or UV water treatment systems or other systems approved by the commission. SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
