What This Bill Does

SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1.  Section 554.002(a), Government Code, is amended
(a)  A state or local governmental entity may not suspend or
terminate the employment of, or take other adverse personnel action
against, a public employee who in good faith reports wasteful or
fraudulent spending or a violation of law by the employing
governmental entity, [or] another public employee, or an elected
officer of the employing governmental entity to an appropriate law
SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
