relating to exempting medical care provided by a midwife from being
considered as neglect of a child.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1.  Section 261.001, Family Code, is amended by
adding Subdivision (3-a) to read as follows:
(3-a) "Medical provider" means an individual who is licensed,
certified, or otherwise authorized to provide health care services
in this state.  The term includes a midwife, as defined by Section
203.002, Occupations Code, and a nurse midwife as described by
Section 301.152, Occupations Code.
SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
