relating to an annual report published by the Texas Education Agency regarding public school campus closures. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 7, Education Code, is amended by adding Section 7.042 to read as follows: Sec. 7.042. ANNUAL REPORT REGARDING PUBLIC SCHOOL CAMPUS CLOSURES. (a) Not later than January 31 of each year, the agency shall prepare and publish on the agency's publicly available Internet website an annual report regarding school district and open-enrollment charter school campus closures. The report must include, for the preceding calendar year, the number of campuses that have closed, disaggregated by the grade levels served by the campus, including elementary, middle, junior high, or high school. (b) The agency shall submit the report described by (3) the speaker of the house of representatives; and (4) each member of the legislature. SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
