relating to a prohibition on carrying a firearm across the
international border of this state into Mexico; creating a criminal
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1.  Section 46.02, Penal Code, is amended by adding
Subsections (a-9) and (c) and amending Subsection (b) to read as
(a-9)  A person commits an offense if the person transports a
firearm to Mexico with the intent to sell the firearm, or purchases
a firearm with the intent to transport the firearm to Mexico for
distribution, unless otherwise authorized by federal law.
(b)  Except as provided by Subsection (c), (d), or (e), an
offense under this section is a Class A misdemeanor.
(c)  An offense under Subsection (a-9) is a state jail
SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
