relating to required notice of an appeal to the commissioner of education regarding certain actions or decisions by a school BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: SECTION 1. Section 7.057, Education Code, is amended by adding Subsection (a-2) to read as follows: (a-2) The commissioner shall provide written notice of an appeal under Subsection (a)(2) to: (1) the superintendent of the school district that is the subject of the grievance; and (2) the board of trustees of the school district that is the subject of the grievance. SECTION 2. Section 7.057(a-2), Education Code, as added by this Act, applies to an appeal submitted to the commissioner of education on or after the effective date of this Act. An appeal submitted to the commissioner of education before the effective date of this Act is governed by the law in effect on the date the appeal was submitted, and the former law is continued in effect for SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
