BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1.  Section 71.004(b), Civil Practice & Remedies
Code, is amended to read as follows:
(b)  The surviving spouse, children, siblings, and parents
of the deceased may bring the action or one or more of those
individuals may bring the action for the benefit of all.
SECTION 2.  The change in law made by this Act applies to a
cause of action filed on or after the effective date.  An action
filed before the effective date of this Act is governed by the law
in effect on the date the action was filed, and the former law is
continued in effect for that purpose.
SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
