relating to a limitation on the salary of school administrators of
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1.  The heading to Subchapter E, Chapter 11,
Education Code, is amended to read as follows:
SUBCHAPTER E. SUPERINTENDENTS, [AND] PRINCIPALS, AND SCHOOL
SECTION 2.  Subchapter E, Chapter 11, Education Code, is
amended by adding Section 11.203 to read as follows:
Sec. 11.203.  SALARY OF SUPERINTENDENT, PRINCIPAL, OR OTHER
SCHOOL ADMINISTRATOR.  (a)  In this section, "school administrator"
means a person employed by a school district in an executive or
(b)  A school district may not employ a superintendent,
principal, or other school administrator for an annual salary in an
amount that is greater than the amount of the annual salary
authorized by the legislature for the governor.
(c)  The commissioner by rule shall require a school district
to annually report to the agency information regarding the salary
of a superintendent, principal, or other school administrator
employed by the school district.
SECTION 3.  This Act applies to an employment contract that
is entered into on or after September 1, 2025.  An employment
contract that is entered into before September 1, 2025, is governed
by the law as it existed at the time the contract was entered into,
and the former law remains in effect for that purpose.
SECTION 4.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
