relating to the fee for public inspection of election records. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: SECTION 1. Section 1.012(e), Election Code, is amended to (e) Except as provided by Subsections (f) and (g), an election record shall be available not later than the 15th day after election day in an electronic format for a fee to be paid by the requestor, not to exceed the lesser of: (1) the cost of the materials, excluding labor, necessary to respond to the request; or (2) $300 [of not more than $50]. SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
