relating to the implementation of a veteran discount program for the use of certain toll projects. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 228, Transportation Code, is amended by adding Section 228.060 to read as follows: Sec. 228.060. VETERAN DISCOUNT PROGRAM ON CERTAIN TOLL PROJECTS. (a) The department shall establish and implement a veteran discount program under Section 372.053 for electronic toll collection customers using State Highway 130. (b) The department shall use revenue received from tolls collected under the comprehensive development agreement entered into on or before March 22, 2007, for State Highway 130 from U.S. Highway 183 to Interstate Highway 10 (Segments 5 and 6) to fund the free or discounted use of State Highway 130 provided by the program (c) In allocating revenue under Subsection (b), the (1) shall prioritize funding free or discounted toll project usage for electronic toll collection customers using the portion of State Highway 130 described by Subsection (b); and (2) may, after allocating revenue for the purpose described by Subdivision (1), use any remaining revenue to fund free or discounted toll project usages for electronic toll collection customers using portions of State Highway 130 not SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
