What This Bill Does

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1.  Subchapter B, Chapter 382, Health and Safety
Code, is amended by adding Section 382.0292 to read as follows:
Sec. 382.0292.  PUBLIC HEARING FOR HIGH LEVELS OF BENZENE.
(a)  If monitoring or modeling data indicates an area is exceeding
or likely exceeding a national or state ambient air quality
standard for benzene, the commission shall hold a public hearing in
the area to allow interested persons to present comments relating
to the elevated levels of benzene.
(b)  The commission shall provide notice of a public hearing
held under Subsection (a) at least once in a newspaper of general
circulation in the area in which the hearing is to be held.  The
notice must be published not later than the 30th day before the date
SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
