What This Bill Does

Allows the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services to reimburse current or former employees for personal property that is lost or damaged by a department client during work-related duties. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1.  Subchapter C, Chapter 40, Human Resources Code,
is amended by adding Section 40.084 to read as follows:
Sec. 40.084.  REIMBURSEMENT FOR LOST OR DAMAGED PERSONAL
PROPERTY.  The department, using existing resources, may reimburse
a present or former employee of the department for loss of or damage
to personal property caused by a client of the department in the
course and scope of the employee's duties.
SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
