What This Bill Does

Allows fire departments to request extensions from the Texas Commission on Fire Protection when they cannot meet minimum professional standards. Fire departments must provide sufficient evidence justifying why they need additional time to comply with established standards, and the commission must grant reasonable extensions. The provision will remain in effect until September 1, 2027, giving fire departments a mechanism to gradually improve their operational capabilities without facing immediate penalties.
