What This Bill Does
Clarifies the definition of "last work" for unemployment compensation initial claims, specifying that it refers to the last employer for whom the claimant worked for at least 30 hours. The Texas Workforce Commission will mail a notice of the initial claim to the employer's specific branch or division where the claimant last worked. This amendment applies to unemployment claims filed on or after January 1, 2026, providing clearer guidelines for both employers and employees when processing unemployment compensation claims.
