What This Bill Does

Mandates that students who commit assault or harassment against a school district employee must be removed from their regular classroom and placed in a disciplinary alternative education program for at least 30 days. The disciplinary placement is required under specific legal definitions of assault and harassment as defined in the Texas Penal Code. The law will take effect for the 2025-2026 school year, aiming to protect school employees from student misconduct by providing a standardized disciplinary response.
