relating to compensation of school district trustees. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: SECTION 1. Section 11.061(d), Education Code, is amended (d) The trustees serve without compensation, unless compensation of a specified amount is approved by the district. The trustees' compensation may not be paid from state or federal funds. Notwithstanding this subsection, a person may not receive compensation for serving as a trustee if the person: (1) holds an office other than the position of trustee that is considered a civil office of emolument under Section 40, Article XVI, Texas Constitution; or (2) receives compensation for other services directly SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
