What This Bill Does

This Texas bill prohibits state agencies, including government departments, legislative bodies, and higher education institutions, from entering into contracts with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). The prohibition applies to new contracts made on or after the effective date of September 1, 2025, and does not retroactively affect existing contracts. The bill appears to be a political statement restricting collaboration between Texas state agencies and the federal ATF.
