What This Bill Does
Modifies Texas education code by removing references to "personal skills" from character education requirements while maintaining a focus on positive character traits like trustworthiness, responsibility, fairness, and caring. School districts will still be required to develop character education programs, but the language around specific skills has been stripped out, potentially simplifying curriculum development. The changes will apply starting in the 2025-2026 school year, affecting kindergarten through 12th-grade students statewide.
