BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1.  Article 42A.701(g), Code of Criminal Procedure,
(g)  This article does not apply to a defendant convicted of:
(1)  an offense under Sections 49.04-49.08, Penal Code,
unless the defendant successfully completes a veterans treatment
court program under Chapter 124, Government Code;
(2)  an offense the conviction of which requires
registration as a sex offender under Chapter 62; or
(3)  a felony described by Article 42A.054.
SECTION 2.  The change in law made by this Act applies only
to a person who is placed on community supervision for an offense
committed on or after the effective date of this Act.  A person who
is placed on community supervision for an offense committed before
the effective date of this Act is governed by the law in effect on
the date the offense was committed, and the former law is continued
in effect for that purpose.  For purposes of this section, an
offense was committed before the effective date of this Act if any
element of the offense occurred before that date.
SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
