What This Bill Does

Prohibits public higher education institutions in Texas from awarding, paying for, or advertising student financial assistance based on race, sex, gender, or sexual orientation. Starting in the fall 2026 semester, colleges and universities will be barred from considering these personal characteristics when providing financial aid to students. The legislation aims to prevent what it views as discriminatory practices in student financial support, potentially impacting scholarship and grant opportunities for various student groups.
