relating to the authority of an independent school district to change the date of the general election for officers. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: SECTION 1. Section 41.0052, Election Code, is amended by amending Subsection (a-1), as added by Chapter 985 (S.B. 2620), Acts of the 88th Legislature, Regular Session, 2023, and adding Subsection (f) to read as follows: (a-1) Notwithstanding Subsection (a), a municipality[, independent school district,] or hospital district wholly or partly located in a county with a population of more than 19,900 and less than 20,000 that holds its general election for officers on a date other than the November uniform election date may change the date on which it holds its general election for officers to the November (f) The governing body of an independent school district that holds its general election for officers on a date other than the November uniform election date may change the date on which it holds its general election for officers to the November uniform SECTION 2. Section 41.0052(a-1), Election Code, as added by Chapter 1160 (S.B. 1131), Acts of the 88th Legislature, Regular SECTION 3. To the extent of any conflict, this Act prevails over another Act of the 89th Legislature, Regular Session, 2025, relating to nonsubstantive additions to and corrections in enacted SECTION 4. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
