What This Bill Does

Modifies the rules for using money from the historic infrastructure sustainability trust fund, specifically for the Texas Historical Commission. The fund can now only be used to maintain, preserve, rehabilitate, improve, and restore existing state historic sites and historic courthouses, with at least one-third of annual distributions dedicated to courthouse preservation. The bill explicitly prohibits using these funds for salaries, administrative costs, acquiring new sites, or purchasing unrelated capital equipment, ensuring the money is focused on preserving existing historical infrastructure.
