What This Bill Does

Allows counties with populations under 700,000 to increase vehicle registration fees up to $20 through a voter referendum. The fee increase must be approved by a majority of qualified voters in a county election, giving local residents direct input on potential transportation funding. If approved, the new optional county fee would provide additional revenue for county transportation and infrastructure needs, starting September 1, 2025.
