What This Bill Does

School districts must provide parents with a written copy of their emergency operations plan at the start of each school year, detailing procedures for various potential emergencies such as extreme heat events, power outages affecting food distribution, active shooter situations, and other declared emergencies. This requirement aims to keep parents informed about how their children will be cared for and protected during critical incidents. The new rule will take effect for the 2025-2026 school year, ensuring parents have comprehensive information about school safety protocols.
