relating to the use of funds awarded under the Jobs and Education for Texans (JET) Grant Program. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: SECTION 1. Section 134.004(b), Education Code, is amended (b) Grants may be awarded under this chapter from the Jobs and Education for Texans (JET) fund: (1) to defray the start-up costs associated with the development of new career and technical education programs at public junior colleges, public technical institutes, public state colleges, and school districts and open-enrollment charter schools described under Section 134.007 that meet the requirements of (2) to pay costs for the acquisition, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of technology solutions necessary to support programs described by Subdivision (1). SECTION 2. Section 134.006(b), Education Code, is amended (b) A grant received under this section may be used only: (1) to support courses or programs that prepare students for career employment in occupations that are identified by local businesses as being in high demand, including courses (2) to finance initial costs of career and technical education course or program development, including the costs of constructing or renovating facilities, purchasing equipment, and other expenses associated with the development of a new course; (3) to finance a career and technical education course or program that leads to a license, certificate, or postsecondary (4) to finance the acquisition, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of technology solutions necessary to support a course or program described by Subdivision (1), (2), or (3). SECTION 3. The change in law made by this Act applies only to a grant awarded on or after the effective date of this Act. SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
