What This Bill Does
Requires manufacturers of products containing ephedrine, pseudoephedrine, or norpseudoephedrine to pay a monthly fee to the system administrator of real-time electronic logging systems used by businesses to track over-the-counter sales of these products. The fee, which will be set as "fair and reasonable" by each system administrator, supports the maintenance of these tracking systems, and manufacturers who fail to pay can face administrative penalties. The law aims to help monitor and control the sale of these substances, which can be used in the production of methamphetamine.
